Sugar Glider

Sugar Gliders are a kind of tree squirrel with a small body size relative to body size of about 24-30 cm with a weight of 4-6 ounces. This marsupial comes from the wilds of Papua, Tasmania Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Sugar Gliders have large toes on their hind feet which serve to help hold more strongly on the tree branches.
What unique from Sugar Gliders is that they have fur or membrane which covered their wrist and ankle called Patagium. When Sugar Gliders spread their arms and legs this Patagium would looks like a wings which make Sugar Gliders “glide” in the air.
Sugar Gliders are nocturnal omnivores, actively foraging at night. In their natural habitat they hunt small insects such as crickets and small caterpillars, and also the sweet sap of the acacia and eucalyptus trees. And that is why they are called a sugar glider, beside their ability to glide in the air they also like to eat sweet foods.
